Nyk Sykes wins Bronze in the Paris Photography Prize
3xP Prix de la Photographie Paris
Nyk Sykes has just been awarded Bronze for Beauty Photography in the Paris Photography Prize (3xP Prix de la Photographie Paris),
for the series "Ladies of Middle Earth", inspired by "Lord of the Rings". This follows on from his success last year, when he won Silver in the Fashion Photography Prize
at the London Photographic Association Awards and in 2008 being a Semi-Finalist in the International Hasselblad Masters Award (Sweden).

Nyk describes his winning photos; "The winning images are from a series inspired by "The Lord of the Rings" film titled "Lady of Middle Earth".
I wanted to explore outside the conventions of fashion and beauty and look more at character and glamour.
The looks were inspired by characters and creatures (both female and male) in the film without referencing individual characters.
I used a single model to express a range of looks from the shyness of the Hobbits to the darkness of Mordor.
